On Sunday I tackled a canyon that got the best of me several years ago. This canyon seems like it wants to hurt you, within a mile of the trailhead is one of the largest pour offs on the mesa. The bypass requires you to hike up near the rim and make a tortuous scrabble down multiple layers of sheer canyon. Once you get to the stream the problems aren’t over, it is riddled with rocks that are the perfect size to sprain an ankle. If you want to visit the best sites you have to know exactly where they are as they are very high up on the canyon and not easy to spot from below. This time I was prepared and got to work finding and photographing one of the most perfect spots.
